About Share ISA Accounts
If you are ok with having some money tied
up for up to five years, then a share ISA is an option for you. Unlike a cash ISA there is
an element of risk with share ISA accounts, but on the plus side share ISA's can make a
better return but this is not assured in any way. Your capital is at risk with a shares
ISA, so it is best you don't invest any money that you cannot afford to lose or may need
access to quickly. You need to be at least 18 years old to open a shares ISA account.
A good thing about a shares ISA is that
there is no penalty for withdrawing funds from your account and there is no fixed term or
end date. There is an intial charge of up to 5% of the amount you invest and there is a
yearly management fee of between 0.5% to 2 %. Share ISA's are more complex than cash ISA's
and it can be a good idea to seek financial advice from an independant financial adviser.
